Tried to follow the recipe from "Cooking with Dog" found here: [link]
The taste is alright, its light in flavor and the sauce tastes pretty good! I decided i would eat it with Nishiki rice covered in a little black sesame seeds followed by bacon wrapped asperagus. Never made this before so its another one of my 'cooking adventures'!
If i were to make this again... one of the things i would do is have everything prepped before hand. Normally when i cook i just do one thing at a time. But this, you really sort of need to have everything measured out and ready. So thats one thing i would do next time. Also, i would cut my onion a bit smaller then i did. if you were to look at it in person you would see that the onion is 'chopped' but its not finely chopped. I guess i was sort of lazy and wanted to eat it soon so i rushed it. Also i would try to make more sauce out of it. Its kinda hard to make more then what fat comes out of the meat but i would try to flatten the meat to get more of the juice out so i could make more sauce for it cuz i really like the sauce! OH and i think i would eliminate the panko part. i had to make my own bread crumbs but it gave the meat this sort of soft texture that i'm not use to... and i thought the meat wasn't cooked through so i ended up coooking it twice before i found it it was the bread. perhaps its because i used bread crumbs instead of actual panko but it still should have had a simular effect.
anyway, something to post cuz its been a long while *again*
it sure doesn't look bad. I made CwD's Sukiyaki recipe tonight with amazing results concerning my father. I made a ton, I filled my hotpot to the brim literally and I only have a tiny amount left including the Udon I made to go with it. Not the first time I've made it though it sure was good tonight!
OMG i LUUUUUV udon noodles~! i love how thick and chewy they are! I think i will try to make sukiyaki sometime soon. i haven't had any since i left japan 6 years ago.
Oh you should! It's really perfect for colder weather and so easy to make~!
