I have a question I want to make a bento for school , but is it okay if the rice and everything what was warm gets cold? If I make it the night before than it will get cold for sure but is that okay?
Yes, the main point of bento is that your food is easy to transport, contains food that can be eaten at room temperature, uses foods that won't spoil easily and doesn't necessarily need to be heated. You definately want your hot/warm foods to cool all the way down to room temperature before putting the lid on top of them. reason for this so that the condensation from the steam coming off the food won't stick to the lid and ultimately spoil the rest of your food. Rice can definately be eaten at room temperature so long as it is cooled down completely. I have eaten rice since i was a child and it definately won't harm you. But keep in mind, cooked rice will only last one day OUTSIDE the fridge. So if you cook rice today but don't plan to eat it until tomorrow... place it in the fridgerator in a sealed container or bento box. If you make it the night before and let it cool down and put it in the fridge you'll be fine.
