Today's Bento (top tray) Sweet corn, shredded carrot, coconut sport in syrup, two slices of double chocolate cookie, and white/milk chocolate swirled chips.
(bottom tray) Two slices of Saki (salmon) sushi, two imitation crab w/ white and black sesame seed rolls, one large sushi roll w/ imitation crab, white and black sesame seed, guacamole, and cucumber, and wasabi sauce.
Note: Coconut sport... i haven't any idea what it is other then that it's part of coconut. it came out of a filipino fruits jar that my mother have.
LOL i spelled it wrong! I have no idea why i keep spelling it like that!!! but yes its Makapuno. My mother is filipino so she always has some foods like this.
If I was going to make a bento like this one and take it to school with me. How would I preserve the sushi so it doesn't go bad on me while its in my bag/locker before lunch time..?
Add more wasabi and make sure no liquids touch it (soysauce, etc) but go out and buy an ice pack and put it in your lunch to keep it cool. sushi doesn't taste good when its all warm... and besides, puttting it in directly into a refridgerator might make it dry and hard. sushi is the kind of food best eaten right away. to keep it from going bad add more wasabi then normal or get a nice cool ice pack. there are ones where is kind of looks like a sheet and you can wrap it around items.
XD i don't make the sushi. my sushi is store bought. but i would assume... that the pieces are cut individually. the fish should be rather cool... not room temperature because then it'll be too soft and can grow bacteria. as for sushi roll, it should be tight and cut with a very sharp knife. again it should be cold. thats just what i think though. i've never actually made sushi.
