If I was going to make a bento like this one and take it to school with me. How would I preserve the sushi so it doesn't go bad on me while its in my bag/locker before lunch time..?

Add more wasabi and make sure no liquids touch it (soysauce, etc) but go out and buy an ice pack and put it in your lunch to keep it cool. sushi doesn't taste good when its all warm... and besides, puttting it in directly into a refridgerator might make it dry and hard. sushi is the kind of food best eaten right away. to keep it from going bad add more wasabi then normal or get a nice cool ice pack. there are ones where is kind of looks like a sheet and you can wrap it around items.

XD i don't make the sushi. my sushi is store bought. but i would assume... that the pieces are cut individually. the fish should be rather cool... not room temperature because then it'll be too soft and can grow bacteria. as for sushi roll, it should be tight and cut with a very sharp knife. again it should be cold. thats just what i think though. i've never actually made sushi.

XD i might end up making bento tutorials... i recently read the different types of bento so it's given me some ideas. Also... what rice are you using? if your sushi roll is falling apart it may be too dry and you may be using the wrong rice. Rice should be short grain... Nishiki brand rice is perfect example and can be found in grocery stores easily. there is another brand but i cannot remember its name TT3TT. it might also help to put in a tiny little ammount of mirin rice vinegar after the rice is cooked. it gives a little taste and might help make it little more sticky.

I'm not really shure what kind of rice i have ^^' i just use the rice my mom buys. I have ricewine vinigar but not mirin..I'll probably have to go to the Asain grocer by my house to get proper rice. I've never heard of Nishiki rice before.

Yes put up a bento tutorial! I want to know how to make them. -3- they looks so tempting!

Nishiki rice is a japanese brand short grain rice that is sold in america. basically it can be any brand so long as its medium to short grain rice. preferable short grain. do not be confused and buy sweet rice. it is much more glutenous then short grain and does not taste well... its used to make rice cake or put in stews, soups, etc.

XD i will be trying to obtain some items to make sushi so i can make a tutorial for everyone. i will aslo be looking into the different types of bento, its history, and how others can make them. its not hard really.
